Over in Kallumthazham, right in the Kollam district, you’ll find our workshop. SASI FOUNDRY & ENGINEERING WORKS isn’t a place for people who mind getting their hands dirty. It’s hot work, dealing with metal and casting. We’ve been at this P.O. address for quite a while. The building is a bit rough around the edges, with soot on the walls and heavy tools lying around on the benches. It’s a noisy environment, but you get used to the sound of the furnace and the grinding. Most of the guys here have been working together for years, so we don't need to say much to get the job done. We just know the routine. There’s no air conditioning, just some old fans that move the hot air around. We take our breaks under the shade of the trees outside when it gets too much. It’s honest work. People from the surrounding areas bring us their engineering problems, and we try to fix them with what we have. It’s not a high-tech lab; it’s a foundry. We focus on the metal and the molds. The floor is always covered in sand and scrap. It’s just the way a real workshop should be, nothing hidden and nothing fake. We have been a part of the local scene in Kallumthazham for long enough that everyone knows where the noise is coming from. It's just a bunch of guys working with their hands.
