Parvathy Metals

We’ve been here on Biakam Road for a while now. Most people around Udayam Peroor know where Plot 246/3 is even if they don’t always remember the name Parvathy Metals right away. It’s a busy spot most mornings. Usually, there’s some metal clanging around and the trucks coming in can make a bit of a mess with the dust, especially when it’s dry out. I spend most of my time checking what came in the night before and seeing what needs to go out. It is not fancy work by any means. We just deal with the metal as it is. Sometimes it’s scrap that needs sorting, other times it’s specific bits people need for building their own projects. The guys out back have been with us for years, so we all just know what needs doing without talking too much about it. Coffee breaks are the best part of the day, sitting near the entrance watching the traffic go by on the road. It gets really hot under the tin roof in the afternoon, but that’s just how it is when you’re working with this kind of stuff. We don't have a big office or anything like that. Just a simple desk and some plastic chairs where we handle the paperwork and the phone calls. Sometimes the phone rings off the hook and other days it is quiet enough to hear the birds in the trees. We just keep at it day after day. It's a living.
