We are tucked away in Flat 1D of Neelam Apts at 61B Park Street. Most people think of big glass skyscrapers when they hear about media groups, but this office is much more grounded. Park Street is always loud and full of energy, and being in an apartment building like Neelam Apts gives us a different perspective. It’s a bit old-fashioned inside. We have files stacked up and desks pushed together. You can hear the sounds of traffic and people outside all day long. We handle various tasks for the Times Of India Group from here. It’s not always about the big headlines; there is a lot of administrative work and coordination that happens behind the scenes. We have people coming in to talk about ads or to drop off papers. The elevator sometimes has a mind of its own, so we end up taking the stairs more often than not. We don't have a corporate cafeteria, so we usually just grab something from the street vendors or the small cafes nearby. It is a very human way to work. We see the city moving right outside our window while we try to keep up with the day's requirements. It’s a bit cramped and sometimes disorganized, but the work gets done and we are right in the heart of Kolkata. That makes a difference in how we see things. We’ve been here long enough to know all the shortcuts and the best times to walk down the street.
