We are based at 10J, Manohar Pukur 2nd Lane in Kolkata, zip code 700029. This is one of the local spots for The Times of India Group. It’s not the main headquarters you see in the news, but it’s where we do our daily work. The lane is quite narrow, so parking is always a headache for anyone visiting us. We mostly have staff coming in and out at odd hours because news never really stops. Inside, it’s a lot of desks, computer monitors, and empty coffee cups. It gets pretty loud when everyone is talking at once or when a deadline is coming up. We don't have fancy office furniture; most of it is just whatever was available at the time. The air conditioning works okay, but on really hot days, we still feel the Kolkata heat. We don't spend much time worrying about how the office looks. As long as the internet is fast and the phones work, we are satisfied. We get our snacks from the vendors on the main road. It’s a bit of a walk, but it’s nice to get some air. Working here feels like being part of the neighborhood. We see the same people every day walking their dogs or going to the market. It’s just a regular office in a busy part of the city. We show up, write what needs writing, and head home.
