Working at 78A Vivekananda Road puts us right in the heart of old Kolkata. This building has been here for ages, and it has that classic look you only find in the 700006 area. Even though it’s a Tata Teleservices Ltd. branch, it doesn't feel like a cold corporate headquarters. It’s got high ceilings and those big windows that let in a lot of street noise. You can hear the buses and the rickshaws all day long. The office is usually humming with the sound of people talking to customers or fixing some technical issue. We have a lot of old ledgers sitting around alongside the new computers. The wiring is a bit of a mess in the corners, but it works. We’ve got a small area where we keep the kettle for tea. It’s the most popular spot in the office around four o’clock. Most of the people working here have been through many seasons together. We know who likes their tea with extra sugar and who prefers it black. It’s a very local vibe. We see the same regulars coming in with questions about their service. We try to help them out without too much fuss. There’s no script we follow; we just talk to people like they are our neighbors, because usually, they are. It’s a busy, dusty, and very human place to spend the day.
