Swasti Clinic

You have to head up to the third floor at 16 Bonfield Lane to find us. Room number 111 is where we stay most of the day. It’s right in the middle of Kolkata-700 001, so the streets outside are always packed with people and traffic. The stairs can be a bit of a climb if you aren't used to these old buildings. Inside the clinic, it is a bit quieter than the lane below. We have a small waiting area with some old magazines and wooden chairs. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we are too busy to get to it right now. Patients come in and out all morning. It’s a tight space, but we make it work. Most people find us through word of mouth around the neighborhood. We keep our records in big metal filing cabinets. It’s not a digital place where everything is on a screen. We prefer writing things down. The ceiling fan wobbles a little when it’s on the high setting. Sometimes the light in the hallway flickers, but that’s just part of being in an old Kolkata building. We’ve been at this address for a long time. It feels like home to us now. We just open the doors, see who needs help, and go through the day one person at a time.
