If you’ve ever been down Strand Road in Kolkata, you know how hectic it can be with all the trucks and people moving everywhere. Hansha Tradecom Pvt. Ltd. is on the 2nd floor of the Vinayak Complex, right in the thick of it. The building is one of those older ones with narrow hallways and a lot of character. Inside our office, it’s mostly just stacks of files and phones ringing. We do a lot of trading, which means we spend a big chunk of the day talking to people and checking on shipments. It’s not a fancy setup at all. We have some old wooden desks and a few fans that hum away to keep the humid Kolkata air moving. From our floor, you can hear the horns honking down on the street all day long. We usually have a tea person who comes around with small cups of chai, which is a nice break from the paperwork. It’s a busy environment and things can get a bit disorganized when we have several orders going at once, but we manage to find what we need eventually. We’ve been operating from this same spot for quite a while, so we’re used to the noise and the pace of Strand Road. It’s just a regular trade office where we show up, handle the business, and deal with the paperwork until it’s time to go home. Nothing fancy, just daily business in the heart of the city.
