Shyam Bazar is a crowded area, and that is where you will find Kolkata Computers. We are surrounded by all the noise and the people that make this part of the city what it is. It is not a very big space, but we have enough room for the spare parts and the machines we are working on. Most days, there are a few half-taken-apart towers on the desks and cables running everywhere. It might look a bit messy to someone walking in for the first time, but we know where everything is. We spend most of our time staring at screens or trying to figure out why a particular fan has stopped spinning. People bring in their laptops that won't turn on or ask about getting more memory. We just tell them what we think and how long it might take. Sometimes the tea man comes by and we take a short break, but usually, it is just the sound of typing and the occasional hum of a power supply. It gets a bit dusty because of all the traffic outside, so we are always wiping things down. We aren’t trying to be the biggest shop in Kolkata, we just want to get the work done. Being in Shyam Bazar means we see all kinds of people every day, which keeps things interesting. It is a practical kind of life here and we just take it as it comes.
