North Calcutta Paints Pvt. Ltd.

We have been operating out of this space at 227/C APC Road for a good while now. Being right near the Shyam Bazar Mall and the CESC office means there is always something going on outside our door. The traffic on APC Road never really stops, and you can hear the horns and the buses all through the day. Inside the shop, it’s a different story. We have rows and rows of paint cans stacked up to the ceiling. Sometimes the dust settles on the lids and we have to wipe them down before showing a color to someone. It’s mostly just us here, moving ladders around or opening up the big color charts when a neighbor walks in. The floor has a few stains from spills over the years, but that is just part of working with paint. We usually start the morning by rolling up the shutters and letting some air in, though the heat in North Calcutta can be quite a lot in the summer months. There is a tea stall just a few doors down where we get our morning cups, and we usually sit on the wooden stools for a minute before the first person comes in. North Calcutta Paints Pvt. Ltd. has been a part of this street for years, and even if the sign is a bit dusty, people know where we are. It isn’t fancy, but it is our place and we know where every single tin is kept.
