You can find Shivam Western Garments over at 5/B Serang Lane in Kolkata. If you have ever been to this part of Kolkata, you know the lanes are very narrow and always full of life. Our shop is tucked into one of these streets. We deal in western clothes, mostly things for everyday wear. The space is small and we have racks of clothes lined up against the walls. It gets a bit cramped when we get new stock in, but we manage to sort it out. The 700014 area is quite old, and our building has that classic Kolkata feel to it. We don't have air conditioning that works all the time, so we keep the fans going at full speed during the summer months. Customers who come in are usually from the neighborhood or people who heard about us from a friend. We don't do any big advertising or anything like that. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait for people to drop by. Sometimes we sit out on the step when it's quiet. It is a very simple way to run a business. We focus on having enough variety so that people find something they like. It is just a regular local shop where we try to be helpful and get through the day's sales without any big drama. We’ve been at this spot for a while and we know the street like the back of our hands.
