Sadhukhan Clinic

Being right near the Barrackpore Railway Station on B T Road means it is always noisy. You can hear the trains pulling in and the whistles blowing all day long. The clinic is at number 47. It’s a busy spot because of the location. People often drop in right after getting off their train or before they head to work. The floor is made of that old-style tile that stays cool even when it’s baking outside. We have a small desk at the front where the paperwork happens. It’s mostly paper files here, stuffed into cabinets. We don’t really use fancy computers for everything yet. The chairs in the waiting area are wooden and have been there since the clinic started. You can see the wear on the armrests where people have sat for years. It’s a bit cramped when five or six people are waiting at once, especially if they have bags from the market. The air smells a bit like antiseptic and old paper. The doctors are usually in a hurry because there is always someone else waiting. We don't spend time on decorations or anything like that. The walls are mostly bare except for some old calendars and a few notices. It’s a straightforward place for people who are in a rush and need to see someone about their health. The traffic on B T Road never seems to stop moving.
