We have been at 2 Red Cross Place for a long time. People around here know the building, though the traffic out front is usually a mess in the mornings. Our work is all about glass, mainly the kind used for bottles and food jars. It is a noisy place to work. The furnaces run all day and night because you can't just turn them off once they are hot. Many of our staff have been on these floors for over twenty years. They know the machines better than anyone else. Hindusthan National Glass is a big part of how things get packaged. It is not fancy work. There is plenty of heat and dust, and the shifts are long. We focus on getting orders out to the companies that need them. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we all have to scramble to fix it, but that is just life in a factory. We don't have time for long meetings or polished reports. Most of our day is spent making sure the glass is clear and the shapes are correct. It’s a basic business. We make things people use every day and then throw away. We have stayed in this same spot because it is where we belong. The brickwork is old and the windows are stained, but it works for us. We just keep the production line moving and try to stay ahead of the schedule.
