Paints & Hardware

We are located at C11 in the Lansdowne Market area of Bhowanipur. The shop is simply called Paints & Hardware. It’s a traditional market stall setup, really. We have been here for years, and the space is quite small for the amount of stuff we try to sell. You’ll find cans of paint stacked up in the corners and hardware items hanging from hooks on the walls. It’s a bit of a maze inside. You have to be careful where you step so you don’t knock over a bucket of primer. We don't have a big staff. It is usually just me or my cousin working here. Bhowanipur is a busy neighborhood, so there is always someone coming in looking for a specific type of screw or a small tin of enamel. We don’t use any complicated systems for our inventory. We just look at the shelves and know what needs to be ordered. The market has its own rhythm, and we’ve become a part of it over the decades. It’s not a fancy place with bright lights. It’s just a local shop where you can get what you need for a repair job. Sometimes we sit outside on a stool when it’s quiet and watch the people go by. It’s a simple life and a simple business. No big promises, just selling paint and hardware to the locals. We use an old ceiling fan that squeaks when it is on high, but it keeps us cool enough. The register is an old metal one that dings when you open it.
