Kavanantsam Gujarati School

We are located in the Karnani Mansion building, specifically at 27 B on Mother Teresa Sarani. Most people still call the street Park Street, and it is easily one of the most famous spots in Kolkata. Kavanantsam Gujarati School is part of this old, iconic structure. The rooms have high ceilings and those big windows that let in a lot of the street noise from below. It is a Gujarati school, so we have a lot of families from the community who have been coming here for generations. The building itself is quite grand but shows its age in the corners and the stairwells. We have a small staff room where we keep the tea kettle and a lot of old files. On festival days, the school feels very different, but most days it is just about getting through the syllabus. Park Street is always busy with cars and people, so getting to the entrance can be a bit of a struggle during peak hours. We have a few cupboards full of old books and some maps of Gujarat on the walls. It is a place with a lot of memories. We don't really do much advertising because word of mouth in the neighborhood is enough. You can usually find one of us standing by the door in the morning, greeting the students as they arrive from all over the city. It is a long day, but we are used to the rhythm of Park Street. There is always something happening outside.
