You will find us at No. 58/C Dr. Sudhir Basu Road, right inside the Fancy Market area. If you’ve ever been to Fancy Market, you know how crowded it gets with people looking for a bargain. The shop is filled with piles of clothes, from shirts to jeans and everything in between. We don't have fancy mannequins or bright spotlights. It's just stacks of garments on the shelves and hangers wherever they can fit. Most of the day is spent unpacking boxes and showing different sizes to customers who walk in. Some people want to haggle over the price and we have to talk back and forth for a while. It's part of the business here on Dr. Sudhir Basu Road. The air smells like new fabric and sometimes a bit of street food from the vendors outside. We have been here long enough that we know most of the other shopkeepers nearby. We help each other out when someone needs change or a bit of tape. It's a small space, so you have to move carefully so you don't knock anything over. When the festival season arrives, the place gets so packed you can hardly breathe. We just keep folding and refolding the clothes to keep things somewhat neat. It’s a simple trade. We get the stock in and we try to sell it to the people who come through the market.
