Zeet Textile

We operate out of Dongaria in South 24 Parganas. It’s a bit of a drive to get here, coming via Birlapur, but this is where we’ve always been. We work with cloth and threads every day. The machines can be noisy, so we’ve gotten used to talking loudly over them. It’s a small operation, mostly local people from the village and nearby Nodakhali. We deal with different kinds of fabrics. Some days we are busy with big orders, other days it's just small bits and pieces. We don't have a big showroom. Most of our work is tucked away in the back where the actual sewing and cutting happens. My uncle started this a while back and we just kept it going. The floors are usually covered in scraps of thread and leftover material by the end of the day. We try to keep it tidy, but it's hard when you're busy. We aren't trying to be some big brand or anything. We just make what people ask for. The power goes out sometimes, which slows us down, but we make do. It’s just how it is in this part of the district. People know where to find us if they need textile work done. We focus on the work, not on making things look pretty for visitors. It’s a messy, honest job, but it pays the bills and keeps the community working. We aren't fancy folks, just people who know how to handle a needle and a loom.
