Being near South Point High School means there is always something going on around here. Our place at 64, Ballygunge Place stays pretty active throughout the week with students and parents moving about. It’s an old neighborhood with a lot of character, and we feel like we fit right in. We don’t spend money on fancy signs or bright lights to get attention. Most of what we do happens in the back where the actual work gets done. It’s mostly about prep work—peeling, cutting, and stirring. We have a small crew and everyone knows their role by heart. If someone is late, everything slows down, so we try to keep each other on track. The air inside always feels a bit heavy with the smell of whatever we’re frying or boiling that day. It's not a glamorous job at all. Your clothes usually end up smelling like oil and spices by the end of the shift. But we enjoy it most of the time. We see the same faces walking by every day, and that's nice. We don't have a big corporate manual to follow. We just know how things should taste and we keep going until it's right. Sometimes we run out of something because the market was short, and we just have to make do with what’s available. That’s just life in a kitchen. We are just a local spot trying to get food out to people who need it. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until night.
