Amar Khamar Agro Foundation

We are based out of a flat in Naktala, specifically in the Sohum Apartments. It is on N S C Bose Road. It might seem a bit unusual having an agro foundation in an apartment building, but it works out fine for us. We handle a lot of the administrative side of farming and foundation work from here. Amar Khamar is basically about connecting with the land even though we are currently sitting in the city. We have files and folders everywhere. Sometimes it feels a bit cramped in Flat 6-D, but we make do with the space we have. Kolkata can be a very hectic place to run a foundation from. We spend a lot of time on the phone or working on the old computer. We don't have a big fancy lobby for guests. It is just a place where the work happens. People come by sometimes to talk about crops or different projects they are starting. We try to keep things grounded. The 700047 area is home for us. We know the local shops and the neighbors well. It is a small operation. We don't use big words or pretend to be more than we are. Just people trying to support agriculture in our own way. The work is steady and we appreciate the quiet moments when the traffic outside isn't too loud. That is life at Amar Khamar. We keep moving forward, one day at a time, looking after things. We try to keep the balcony plants alive too.
