Vishwachaitnya Foundation

You can find us at House No. 1062 in the village of Bahirewadi. It’s in the Panhala taluka of Kolhapur district. Being out here in the countryside is very different from the city offices you see. We deal with a lot of local stuff related to the village and the surrounding farms. The foundation is run out of a family home. We have a porch where people sit and talk for hours. It’s very informal. We don't have set office hours like a bank. If the lights are on and the door is open, someone is here to help you. Most of the work involves helping people with their daily struggles or coordinating village activities. We know everyone in Bahirewadi by name. It’s a tight-knit place where everyone looks out for each other. Sometimes we have to travel to Kolhapur city for official work, but most of our time is spent right here in the village. The air is much better here than in the city, but the internet can be spotty at times. We don't mind. We use old notebooks to keep track of things. We aren't looking to become a massive organization with branches everywhere. We just want to make sure the people in our taluka have someone to turn to when things get tough. Vishwachaitnya Foundation is just a part of the local life here. We take things one day at a time. It’s quiet, it’s slow, but it’s meaningful work for us.
