Shahupuri Pride Foundation

We are over at D-26 in the Pratik Sahakari housing society. It’s located in the Shahupuri area of Karanje. The foundation, Shahupuri Pride, is basically run out of this small unit. It’s a quiet residential society for the most part, which makes it a good place to think and work. We have a small table where we keep our computer and all the files. The building isn't very new, so the pipes sometimes make funny noises, but it's home to us. We chose this spot because it's right in the middle of where we grew up. Most of the people around here know us since we were kids. We didn't want to go to a big commercial center and pay high rents. This way, we can use what we have to actually help the neighborhood. Sometimes the society members gather near the gate in the evenings to talk, and we join them. It keeps us grounded. We don't have a big staff, just family and a couple of friends who help out when they can. The paperwork can be a headache sometimes, but we stay on top of it. It’s a very local operation, and we like it that way. If you’re ever in Karanje, you might see our small nameplate at the entrance of D-26. We’re usually there during the day, just sorting out whatever needs attention in the community.
