Sanyukt Kalakar Ekta Social Welfare Foundation

We are located in Nadhawade, which is in the Bhudargad area of Kolhapur. Sanyukt Kalakar Ekta Social Welfare Foundation started because a group of us artists felt we needed to stick together. Being an artist in a small town isn't always easy, and we wanted to create a support system for one another. Our place at GNO 420/2 is usually a bit of a mess with art supplies, sketches, and papers everywhere. It’s a creative space, so we don't worry too much about it being perfectly tidy. We spend a lot of time talking about how to help local talent get noticed. It’s not just about painting or music; it’s about the whole community's welfare and spirit. We have meetings where everyone brings some food to share and we just talk through our problems. It’s very informal and relaxed. We don't have a boss or a corporate structure that tells us what to do. We just make decisions together by talking them out. Sometimes it takes a long time to agree on things, but that’s okay because everyone gets a say. The rural setting of Kolhapur is beautiful and inspires a lot of what we do every day. We're just trying to make sure that the culture here doesn't get lost in the shuffle of modern life. It’s hard work and we don't make much money, but we love what we do.
