Najar Agro Producer Company Limited is located in Nayachara Part-II, over in the Bilashpur area of Kokrajhar. Our office is actually at Mithun Barman’s house. We are a small group of farmers from this village and the ones nearby. We realized a while ago that we were all doing the same things and running into the same issues every season. So we figured, why not work as one unit? It’s been a big learning process for all of us. We deal with the crops that grow well in this particular soil. It’s not a glamorous job. There’s a lot of dirt and long hours under the hot sun. We meet up when we can to talk about which seeds to buy or how to handle the irrigation when the water is low in the streams. We aren't looking to become some huge corporation. We just want to make sure the people in Nayachara can sell their produce for a price that actually covers the cost of growing it. It’s hard to do that alone. We share what we have, whether it’s a bit of advice or an extra hand during the harvest. Most of us have families we want to provide for, so we work hard to make the farms profitable. It’s a simple life, and we like it that way. We just keep moving forward, one season at a time, trying to do our best by the land we have. It is just a way for us to survive together.
