If you know Pfutsero, you know it is one of the coldest places in Nagaland. That is where we are, at the Cye Building in the Vill Bethany I Colony. Tizu Agro Navkrishak Farmers Producer Company Limited started because we wanted to see if we could do better by working together instead of everyone just doing their own thing. Phek district has some really good land for vegetables and other crops, and we take advantage of that. Our office is just a simple room where we keep our records and meet to talk about market prices and the weather. Sometimes the fog is so thick you can’t see the road, but we still head out to the fields. We are practical people. We don't use big words or have long meetings about strategy. We just talk about who is bringing what and how we can get it to the towns before it goes bad. It’s a lot of physical work, loading trucks and checking the quality of the harvest. We have many families involved in this, and everyone knows everyone else. It’s more like a big neighborhood project than a business sometimes. We focus on what grows best in this high altitude. We don't have a lot of bells and whistles here, just the smell of fresh earth and the sound of people working together. It’s a simple life but it keeps us busy from dawn to dusk every day of the week except Sundays.
