You can find us at No. 18/4 - 12A, Koushika Nilaya, in the Shanthinikethan area of Jayanagara. We are up in Madikeri, which is in the Kodagu district. Our name is Biota Coorg Farmer Producer Company Limited. Being in Coorg, everything revolves around the land and the crops we grow here, like coffee and spices. It’s a beautiful place to live, but the hills make logistics a bit tricky sometimes. Our office is in a residential-style building, which makes it feel more like a home than a workplace. We have a lot of local farmers who are part of our group. We sit around and talk about the weather, because in Kodagu, the rain can make or break your year. The office is usually filled with the smell of coffee. We don’t have fancy boardrooms, just a few tables where we sort out the paperwork and talk about how to get a better price for what we grow. It’s a community effort, really. We’ve all known each other for years, so there’s a lot of trust involved. We aren't trying to sell anyone a dream, we're just trying to make sure the farmers in Madikeri have a fair shot. It’s quiet up here compared to the big cities, and we like it that way. Most of our days are spent checking on the progress of the crops and making sure the members of the company are doing okay. It’s just the way life goes in the hills of Karnataka.
