Sunstone Aggregates

Out here at 878 Manjapra South in the Kuzhiyampadam area of Parakkulam, things stay pretty busy with the stone and gravel. Sunstone Aggregates is where we spend our days. It is a dusty environment and you will usually find us in work boots and old shirts. The machinery makes a lot of noise throughout the day, so we have all gotten used to shouting over the engines to hear each other. We have piles of different sized stones all over the yard. It is a lot of logistics, making sure the right truck gets the right load of material. The roads around here can be a bit narrow for the big lorries, so that takes some careful driving and patience. We are not a big city firm with shiny glass windows and suits. Our office is just a small cabin with a computer that sometimes runs slow when the weather is bad. We deal with local builders and people working on their own houses in the village. Most of the crew lives nearby, so we all know the local gossip and what is happening in the neighborhood. Rain is usually our biggest problem, it turns the whole yard into a muddy mess that takes days to dry out. We just wait it out and get back to work when it clears. There is something satisfying about seeing the piles go down and the trucks headed out to a new project.
