Kinner Kailash Farmer Producer Company Limited is the name we went with. Our office is in the Knowledge Us Complex near the bus stand in Reckong Peo, or R/Peo as most people call it. We are at Akbar Singh Negi’s place. He is the son of Vidya Singh Negi. Being right by the bus stand makes it easy for farmers coming in from the surrounding villages to find us without walking too far. We look up at the Kinner Kailash mountain every single day, so it was the only name that made sense for us to use. Peo is a busy little town, especially when the tourists are passing through on their way to the high mountains, but we focus on the farming side of things. Akbar Singh Negi’s family is well known here in the district. We have a modest setup in the complex. It’s not very big, but it’s enough for what we need to do. We handle all the registrations and farmer meetings right there in that room. It’s a lot of talk about apples and other crops that grow well in this high altitude. We aren't some distant corporation from the city. We are the same people you see at the market or on the bus every day. We work hard because the mountain climate doesn't give you much choice but to stay busy. It’s honest work and we do it right here in the heart of Kinnaur. We don't need fancy things, just a solid place to work.
