Taraboi Handloom Weavers Producer Company Limited

We are a group of weavers based right here in Taraboi. This company was formed so we could work together instead of everyone trying to do it on their own. Our office is just a simple building in the village. Most of the actual work happens in the homes of the weavers across Taraboi. You can hear the looms clicking if you walk through the streets in the morning. We collect the sarees and cloth once they are finished and try to find buyers for them. It isn't always easy because handloom takes a lot of time and effort. We don't use big machines, just the old ways that have been passed down. Our board members are just weavers themselves. We meet once a week to talk about yarn prices and who owes what. The roof of the storehouse leaks a little when it rains hard, so we have to be careful with the stock. We are proud of what we make, but we don't go around shouting about it. We just want a fair price for the hours we put in at the loom. It’s a hard way to make a living sometimes, but it’s our way.
