The Rani Rout Foundation is located in Sector-5 of Niladri Vihar. We are at Plot No. S5/409. It’s in Lane-4, which is a bit tucked away in the Chandrasekharpur area of Bhubaneswar. If you know Sailashree Vihar, we are not too far from there. It’s a residential neighborhood, so it feels very much like a community rather than a business park. The foundation operates out of a house setup. It’s got that lived-in feel with various rooms used for different tasks. We have a lot of papers and folders piled up on the dining table most days. The lane outside is narrow, so parking can be a bit of a headache if more than one person visits at the same time. We often hear the neighbor’s kids playing or someone selling vegetables on the street. It’s not a sterile office environment. We have some plants in the front that we try to keep alive, though the sun is quite harsh this time of year. Inside, we have a couple of computers and a printer that jams occasionally when we are in a hurry. We spend our time managing the foundation’s work right from these rooms. It’s a local operation. We don’t have big meetings in fancy boardrooms. We just sit around, drink some water, and figure out what needs to be done next. It’s a humble place, but it works for what we do every day.
