Padma Sweets

We are over at Atharnala in Puri, right near the Check Gate. If you know the area, you know it’s where a lot of people enter the city. Padma Sweets has been a part of this corner for a bit. We spend most of our time in the back making different kinds of sweets. It’s a lot of manual work, stirring big pots and getting the sugar just right. We don't use any high-tech machines, just the same way we learned years ago. The shop isn't very big, so it can get tight when a few people are waiting at the counter. We mostly sell to locals who are going home or people stopping their cars as they come through the gate. We don’t have a website or anything like that. We just put the trays out and when they’re empty, we make more. Some days are busier than others, especially during festival times when everyone wants something sweet for their family. We try to keep the prices fair so anyone can grab a box. It’s just a small local shop trying to do things right. You can usually smell what we’re making from the street before you see the shop. It’s a simple business and we like it that way. We just keep our focus on the milk and the sugar.
