If you head down Maharani Surat Kumari Marg Kheri Road, you’ll find Batra Hardware. We are quite close to the Urban Cooperative Bank, which makes it easy for people to find us when they are out doing their errands. The town is growing, so there’s always someone building a new wall or fixing a leaky roof. We try to keep a bit of everything in stock, from nuts and bolts to bigger tools that people might need for their houses. The shop is a bit cramped because we keep adding new things whenever we see a demand. It’s a family-run kind of place, so you might see one of us eating lunch in the back while someone else helps a customer at the counter. The Kheri Road gets quite dusty, especially when the wind picks up, so we’re always wiping down the counters. We aren't trying to be the biggest store, just a reliable place where you can get what you need without a fuss. We know the plumbing parts and the electrical bits pretty well after all these years. Sometimes we just stand outside and watch the traffic go by when it's quiet. It’s a simple life here in the town, and we’re just glad to be a part of the local community. We don't use fancy computers for everything, just our notebooks and some old-fashioned grit. There’s always work to be done in a hardware shop.
