Trainee Civil Engineer

I’m working out of 2-Sardar Nagar here in Mahemdabad. The office is near Mahila Bhavan on the main road that connects Mahemdabad and Kheda. It’s a busy spot in the Kheda district. As a trainee civil engineer, my day is usually filled with looking at site plans and trying to figure out how things fit together on the ground. This isn't some big corporate headquarters. It’s a practical space where we get the actual work done. There are blueprints spread out everywhere and a lot of mud on my boots from visiting local projects. Gujarat is growing fast, and being in the 387130 area means there is always something being built or repaired. I spend a lot of time on the road between the office and different sites. It can be exhausting, but I’m learning a lot. My setup is simple. I’ve got my tools, my notes, and a lot of coffee. I don’t use fancy jargon when talking to the builders; we just speak plain Gujarati or English to make sure the walls are straight and the materials are right. It’s a hands-on life. Some days are better than others, especially when the weather isn't cooperating, but that’s just how construction goes. I’m just trying to build a solid foundation for my career here in Sardar Nagar while helping out on various local jobs.
