Out here at Plot No. 3103 in Phase-3 Gidc, things get pretty loud during the day. That’s just the way it is with engineering work. We spend most of our time around the lathes and the welding machines. There is always a layer of metal dust on the floor no matter how much we sweep it up. Most of the guys here have grease under their fingernails and they don't mind it much. We’ve been in this part of Gidc for a long time, so we know the neighbors and the tea stall down the road quite well. It’s not a shiny office or anything, just a big shed where we make parts and fix things that break down in other factories. Sometimes a job takes longer than we thought because a tool snaps or the power goes out, which happens more than we'd like. We don’t have any fancy receptionists, usually you just have to shout over the noise if you want to find someone in charge. We just try to get the orders done so they can go out on the trucks by Friday. It's honest work, and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. The fans are always humming to keep the air moving, but it’s still a hot place to be in the summer. We just keep our heads down and finish the work without complaining too much.
