About Going For Rights – Food & Beverages in Khammam
Going For Rights is located at 1-204 in Komararam, over in Yellandu. It is a small place, really. We don’t have a big staff or a multi-story building. Most of what we do involves talking to people and trying to figure out how to help with various situations. The office is just a simple room with some chairs and a table. It’s nothing like the big NGOs you see on the news. We are right here in the community, and people just walk in when they have a problem. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded and we have to bring in extra stools from the house next door. Yellandu is a quiet enough area, but we stay busy with the local issues that pop up. We don't have a lot of funding, so we make do with what we have. Sometimes the printer runs out of ink and we have to wait until someone can go into town to get more. It’s a bit slow-paced compared to the city, but that’s just how life is in Komararam. We know the families around here. We’ve been at 1-204 for a while now. It’s an old building, and the roof leaks a tiny bit when the monsoon is heavy. We just put a bucket under it and keep working. It isn't a professional corporate setup, just us trying to do something for the folks nearby. We just keep at it day by day.
