Maa Tarini Bricks

We are situated right on the Main Road in Karanjia, just a short walk from the Post Office. Being in the Mayuarbhanj district, we get a lot of local folks coming through. The business is pretty straightforward; we make bricks and sell them to whoever needs them for their house or a wall. It is a family thing, mostly. I took over from my uncle a few years back. The ground here is reddish, and by the end of the day, everything we wear is that same color. We have a large open area where the kilns are. It stays hot around there, especially during the summer months. We have a crew of about fifteen people who handle the molding and the firing. It is a lot of manual labor, and we all get our hands dirty. Sometimes the delivery trucks get stuck if the rain is too heavy, which is a real headache for us. We keep our paperwork in a small wooden cabin near the entrance. It’s not much to look at, but it works for us. We don’t spend money on fancy marketing or anything like that. Most people hear about Maa Tarini Bricks from their neighbors or just by seeing us while they go to the post office. It is a quiet life in a way, just following the cycle of the seasons and the demand for building stuff. We are just here doing our job everyday.
