Seemanchal Minority B Ed College

Seemanchal Minority B Ed College is located out on Baigna Road in Mahadevpur, which is a bit of a trek from the main part of Katihar. The college building stands out against the more rural surroundings of the area. Most days start with students arriving on their bicycles or by the local transport, filling up the parking area. We spend a lot of time in the administrative office sorting through B.Ed application forms and teaching schedules. The hallways are usually quiet during lecture hours, but they get pretty lively when the students come out for their breaks. There is a lot of focus on the practical files that the future teachers have to maintain, so you’ll often see people sitting in the corners of the library or the common room scribbling away. The weather in Katihar can be quite humid, so the fans are always humming in the background of every conversation. We have a small canteen area where the food is basic but fills you up during those long afternoon stretches. It’s an honest sort of place where people are just trying to get their degrees and move on to their careers. There’s no fancy glass elevators or air conditioning in every room, just solid walls and a lot of hard work going on. The road outside can get a bit muddy during the monsoon, but we manage to keep the college running regardless of the weather.
