Ratan Rice Traders

Ratan Rice Traders is based at Plot No.C-33 in Kashipur. We are really close to the Naveen Mandi Sthal, which makes sense given what we do. Rice is what we know best. Every morning the smell of grain is heavy in the air. We spend a lot of time talking to farmers and looking at the different varieties that come in. It’s a very hands-on kind of job. My boots are usually covered in some kind of dust by noon. We aren't a high-tech operation. We have our scales, our bags, and our ledgers. The building itself is sturdy but it’s seen better days. We put a new roof on part of it last year because the rain was getting in. It’s just part of maintaining a warehouse. The neighborhood is mostly other traders and shops, so we are in good company. We don't really do much advertising. People just know we are here at C-33. We try to be fair with everyone we deal with. It’s about building a reputation over years of showing up every day. Some days the market is slow and we just sit around talking about the weather or the crop prices. Other days we don't even have time to eat lunch because there are so many orders to fill. We just take it as it comes. The truck drivers usually share some news from the road while they wait for their loads to be ready.
