Our place is at No. 29 in Ramakrishna Puram (North). It’s a fairly quiet street most of the time, which we appreciate. We do impex work here, which basically means we deal with a lot of papers for bringing things in and sending them out. The office is really just a couple of rooms on the ground floor. We have some old filing cabinets that have been with us since we first started. There is a small tree outside the window that keeps the room a bit dark, but it helps with the heat in the summer months. We aren't a big corporation with hundreds of employees. There are just a few of us here. We spend a lot of time checking customs forms and talking to delivery drivers on the phone. Sometimes the phone doesn't stop ringing all morning, and other times it's completely silent for hours. We don't have any polished brochures or fancy carpets on the floor. It is just plain tiles. We keep a stash of biscuits in the drawer for when we get hungry in the late afternoon. It's a simple way of working. We know our neighbors and we usually close up early on Saturdays. We don't try to be anything we're not. We just make sure the goods move from one place to another without too much trouble. It’s steady work that keeps us on our toes. We have been here a long time.
