Sachdeva Crockery

Our place is right there near Sardar Jalebi Wala in Gharaunda. You can usually smell the frying sweets right from our doorstep, which makes us hungry most of the day. Sachdeva Crockery is basically just a big room filled with plates, bowls, and all sorts of glass things. We have to be very careful when moving around because everything is breakable. Sometimes a glass chips or a plate falls, and that’s just part of the job. We spend a lot of time wrapping things in old newspapers so they don’t crack. Gharaunda is a quiet enough place most of the time, but the area around the jalebi shop stays active. We’ve seen a lot of families come in looking for sets to give as wedding gifts or just something new for their kitchens. It’s a bit dusty because of the road, so we are always wiping down the displays with old rags. We don’t have a fancy website or a big office. It’s just us here at the shop. The floor is made of plain concrete and we have some old wooden shelves that have been here for years. It’s a steady kind of work. We know most of the people who walk past our door every morning. Sometimes we just sit on the stools outside when it’s quiet and watch the traffic go by. It’s a decent way to spend the day.
