Pooja Export

You have to head up to the first floor of Amrit Handloom House on G.T. Road to find us. Being right on the main road means there’s always noise from the trucks and rickshaws downstairs. It’s a busy area, so there’s never a dull moment. Inside our space at Pooja Export, things are a bit more organized than the street outside, though not by much when a big shipment comes in. We’ve got shelves lining the walls and a couple of long tables where we check the quality of the handloom goods. The stairs are a bit narrow, so moving heavy rolls of fabric up and down is a workout for the guys. We don't have fancy decorations or a lobby. It’s just a place where we do the packing and sorting. Most of us have been working on G.T. Road for a long time, so we’re used to the dust and the constant sound of horns. We usually have the radio playing in the background while we work. Someone is always checking the registers or making sure the labels are stuck on straight. It’s honest work and keeps us on our feet all day. We see a lot of different people coming through the doors, from suppliers to drivers, and we just handle things as they come. It’s a practical setup that works for what we do, even if the walls could use a new coat of paint and the stairs stay dusty.
