You can find Karna Paints Pvt. Ltd. over in the New Grain Market area. It might seem like a strange place for a paint business, being surrounded by all the grain trade, but it works for us. Our space is filled with stacks of cans and buckets in every size you can imagine. The air usually smells a bit like solvent and fresh pigment. We spend a lot of our time mixing colors and trying to get the right shades for people who come in. It’s a messy job, and you can always tell what we’ve been working on by the spots of paint on our clothes and hands. The market is a very busy, dusty place, especially during the harvest seasons, so we are constantly wiping down the counters. We aren't a big corporate showroom with bright lights and fancy displays. It’s more of a warehouse feel where we keep our stock and handle the daily orders. Sometimes the mixing machine makes a real racket, but we are used to it by now. People from all over the area come to the grain market, so we get a lot of foot traffic from folks looking to spruce up their homes or shops. We don't do much in the way of advertising. We just show the color cards and help people pick what they need for their project. It’s a straightforward business, and we like the direct way of doing things here in the market.
