Antram Hair Cutting Saloon

Life at Antram Hair Cutting Saloon in Samalkha is pretty simple. We are located in Village Namunda, right in the Panipat district. The shop isn't very big, but it’s got everything we need to keep the local men looking decent. We have the usual chairs, some mirrors that have seen better days, and a radio that plays music in the background. Most of the day is spent holding scissors or a razor. We talk a lot with the people who come in. You hear all the local news here—who’s getting married, how the crops are doing, or what happened at the market. It’s not a place where you need an appointment. People just walk in, sit on the bench, and wait their turn while they chat. The floor is usually covered in hair until we get a second to sweep it up. In the summer, it gets really hot, so we keep the door open to get a bit of a breeze. We don’t have a fancy menu of services. We just do haircuts and shaves. We’ve been here in Namunda for a while now, and everyone knows where the shop is. We don’t put up big posters or try to look like those salons in the city. We are just a village barber shop. It’s hard work on your legs all day, but it’s good to be part of the community here in Samalkha.
