Karthika Enterprises & Engineering Works

It’s usually pretty loud here at B 1 because of the traffic on the Bypass Road. We’ve been at this spot in Thimmasamudram for a while now. Most days start early before the sun gets too high, getting the machines ready for whatever engineering work is on the schedule. Karthika Enterprises & Engineering Works isn't a fancy place. There’s usually some iron scraps around and the smell of oil. We spend most of the time fixing things or welding parts that people bring in from the nearby areas. The floor gets dusty with all the trucks passing by outside. Sometimes the power goes out and we just have to wait it out or work on manual tasks. It's a lot of physical labor and sweating. We have a small table where we keep the invoices and a few old chairs for when someone stops by to talk about a job. There isn't much in the way of decoration, just some tools hanging on the walls and a calendar from last year that nobody took down. People know where we are because of the big gate. It’s a straightforward way to make a living, just handling metal and keeping the machines running. We don’t have a big staff, just a couple of us who know how to handle the lathes and the welding kits. Every evening we lock up the shutters and head home, ready to do the same thing tomorrow.
