Out on Banki Road in Hindaun City, things are a bit slower than in the bigger cities. J B Poorvanchal Boarding School is where we spend our days and nights. Since it is a boarding school, it feels more like a big, slightly disorganized home than a formal institution. We have kids living here from different parts of the region, so there is always someone around, even on the weekends. The dormitories are pretty basic. We have beds, cupboards, and not much else, but it’s enough for the students. We eat our meals in a big hall, and the food is just simple, home-style cooking. Nothing fancy. The grounds are quite large, which is nice because it gives the boys and girls room to run around and play games after their classes are done. Being in Hindaun, we don't have all the noise of a metro, but Banki Road still gets its share of tractors and trucks passing by. We don't have a lot of high-end equipment, so we rely on good old-fashioned books and a lot of talking. The teachers live nearby or on-site, so they are always around if a student has a problem in the middle of the evening. It’s a practical sort of place. We just try to provide a safe spot for these kids to grow up and get their education without too much fuss.
