Rajeshwari Modern Rice Mill

Rajeshwari Modern Rice Mill is found at 101, Puliyadi Road in Vadasery. We call it modern because we have some newer machines compared to the old hullers people used to use. The place at number 101 is always buzzing with the sound of motors and fans. Puliyadi Road is a busy spot and we have to be careful with the trucks pulling in so they don't block the way. We spend the whole day covered in a fine layer of rice dust. It gets into your hair and your clothes but you stop noticing it after an hour. Vadasery is a good place for a mill because there are many farms nearby. We see a lot of different people coming through with their harvests. The work is mostly about watching the color and the breakages in the rice as it comes through the chutes. We have a small shed where we keep the spare parts and the oil for the engines. There is a bench outside where we take our breaks and watch the traffic go by on Puliyadi Road. It isn't a glamorous job but it's what we know how to do. We don't have any marketing people or a fancy website. If someone needs milling done, they just show up at the gate. We keep the machines running as long as there is paddy to process. It’s just regular work at 101.
