Matha Stone Works

You can find us on Eraniel Road in Thuckalay. We do a lot of work with stones here in our yard. It is a messy job, and our clothes are usually covered in a layer of grey dust by the time lunch rolls around. We have been in Nagercoil for quite some time now. The yard is full of heavy blocks and slabs waiting to be cut or moved to a site. We use some old machines that make a lot of noise, but they get the job done for us. It is mostly just hard physical labor day in and day out. We don’t have a fancy showroom with lights and displays. People just walk into the yard and look at what we have sitting on the ground. Sometimes the weather is too rainy to work outside, so we have to sit under the shed and wait it out. That is about the only time it is ever quiet here. We handle orders for local houses and some bigger projects in the city too. My father started this business, and we just keep it going as best as we can. It involves a lot of heavy lifting and making sure the measurements are right before we cut anything. We don't use any big words to describe what we do. We just work with stone. It is honest work and it keeps us all fed. The traffic on Eraniel Road can be a bit much during the school hours, but otherwise, it is a good spot for us. We just keep the saws running.
