Joe Engineering

The industrial estate in Konam is where you’ll find Joe Engineering, specifically at unit number 4. It’s a busy place with a lot of activity starting from early in the morning. We are surrounded by other workshops, so the air is always filled with the sounds of grinding, welding, and engines revving. Our space is pretty functional. We have a workbench that’s seen a lot of use over the years, and tools are hung up wherever they fit. It isn't the cleanest place, but that’s the nature of engineering work. There’s usually grease on someone’s hands and a few spare parts lying around on the floor. We spend our days fixing things and making sure the machines are running as they should. Joe is usually right there in the middle of it, probably tucked under a piece of equipment or looking at a manual. We don't have a fancy breakroom, just a few chairs in a corner where we sit down to have our tea and a biscuit. The sunlight comes in through the high windows, but it’s mostly artificial light we work under. It’s hard work, and the days can be long when a project is giving us trouble. Still, there’s a satisfaction in seeing something work again after it was brought to us broken. The commute to the estate is simple enough, and we all know the other guys working in the nearby units.
