Jeyam Dhall

You can find Jeyam Dhall at 21, Palani Street over in Vetturnimadam. We have been operating from this same little street for a good length of time now. The business is mainly about processing and selling dhall to the people and shops around here. It is a local operation, so we do not have any fancy reception areas or people in suits walking around. Mostly, you will find us in the back handling the sacks of lentils or checking the machinery. Palani Street is usually fairly quiet, but it picks up when the delivery vans are loading. We started this because we knew how to handle the grain and there was a need for it in the neighborhood. It is not always easy work, especially when the machines break down or the weather gets too damp for drying the pulses. We just take it day by day and try to keep our regulars happy with what we produce. The air inside always smells like raw lentils and earth, which is something you just get used to after a while. Most of the staff live nearby, so it feels more like a neighborhood gathering than a big company. We do not bother with much on the internet or big advertisements; people just know we are here on the corner when they need their kitchen supplies. It is a humble way to earn a living, but it keeps us busy.
