The Landmark 5 Star Hotel

Our place, The Landmark 5 Star Hotel, is located at 75 B/4 in New Defence Colony, Kanpur. Being in Uttar Pradesh, we see a lot of different weather, from the heavy rains to the dusty heat. The hotel is a big building in the neighborhood, and people usually use it as a landmark when they are giving directions. Even though the name sounds very formal, the staff here are mostly local people who just want to do a good job. We spend our time making sure the floors are swept and the rooms are ready for whoever might show up. It’s a busy life working in a hotel. You never really know what the day is going to bring. Sometimes we have a big event that keeps us running until midnight, and other times it’s just a few travelers passing through Kanpur for work. The office where we handle the bookings is often cluttered with papers and coffee mugs. We don’t use those polished scripts you might find in big city chains; we just talk to people like neighbors. New Defence Colony is a good spot to be in, and we feel like a part of the community here. We have seen guests come back year after year, and they usually know us by name. It is not always perfect—sometimes the lift is slow or a booking gets mixed up—but we always try to straighten it out.
