Our place is over at C-8, Site-1 in the Panki Industrial Estate. Swadeshi Footcare has been making shoes and footwear components here for a long time. If you walk into our unit, you’ll hear the machines going and smell the materials. It’s a real working factory environment. We aren't sitting in an air-conditioned office all day. Most of us are on the floor, making sure the production is going okay. Panki is a big area, but everyone around here knows each other. We’ve got a team that’s been together for years. We make practical footwear that people actually use. It’s not about fashion runways; it’s about sturdy shoes for everyday life. The building is older, but it serves its purpose. We spend a lot of time maintaining the machinery because if they stop, everything stops. There’s a lot of pride in what we do, even if it’s just making sure the soles are attached right. We don't have a marketing team or anything like that. Word usually gets around about our work. It’s just honest manufacturing. Sometimes the heat in the estate gets a bit much, but we just keep at it. It’s what we know. We have our tea breaks out by the gate and watch the other workers go by. It’s a tough life sometimes, but it’s our life and we’ve built something we can stand by.
