Down at 23-B in Dada Nagar, that’s where we make all the shoes for Airysole Footwear. The building isn't much to look at from the outside, but it stays busy from morning till night. You can usually smell the materials we use as soon as you walk in. There are stacks of soles and uppers everywhere, waiting to be put together. We have a few rows of machines and people sitting at benches doing the stitching and gluing. It’s a lot of repetitive work, but we try to keep a good pace. Sometimes the noise from the stitching machines gets a bit loud, so we have to shout to be heard. We don't have a fancy showroom here; it’s strictly for making the footwear. We spend a lot of time checking the bins for any mistakes. If a strap is loose, we fix it right then. The tea break is the highlight of the afternoon for most of us. We sit outside on the steps if the weather is okay. We’ve been at this for a few years now and we have a routine that works. It’s not about being the biggest company, just about making sure the shoes are sturdy enough for people to wear every day. We just pack them into boxes, label them, and wait for the truck to pick them up. It’s a humble way to earn a living for all of us here.
